ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump, has shown appreciation for the Army Chief of Pakistan, General Asim Munir, by labeling him as his “favorite Field Marshal” in a media dialogue that took place right after the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement.
Trump said, “My favorite Field Marshal from Pakistan, Asim Munir, is not here today, but Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is with us. He can come to talk.”
The remarks were made in conjunction with the monumental Gaza Peace Agreement, which Trump called a large-scale movement toward the East that would last peace. He thanked all the nations who played a part in the deal brokered and declared the agreement a success in putting a stop to the killings in Gaza.
“I feel privileged to be a part of this peace agreement. The deal will bring tranquillity not just to Gaza but to the whole region and we will be together in the Reconstruction of Gaza,” Trump stated. Besides, he called the power of the U.S. military “the strongest military in the world,” and gave due recognition to the Qatar leader’s role in easing the peace process.

Even though General Asim Munir was not present at the ceremony, Trump’s recognizing him as his favorite Field Marshal is an indication of his esteem towards Pakistan’s military command. He rounded off his speech by thanking all the peace agreement signers and laying stress on the reconstruction period in Gaza that will take place after the agreement.
