PESHAWAR: Three personnel of Frontier Constabulary were martyred and five others were injured as a result of a powerful blast in front of the main gate of Frontier Constabulary (Federal Constabulary) Headquarters in Saddar area on Monday morning.
Police said terrorists suddenly attacked the FC headquarters today, along with a loud explosion at the main gate. After the explosion, gunfire was heard continuously in the area, which spread panic in the surrounding areas. As soon as the information about the attack was received, a large contingent of police and rescue teams reached the spot. Security forces surrounded the area, while all the routes leading to the FC headquarters have also been closed.
Sources said that a heavy contingent of police rushed to the blast site to counter the presence of terrorist elements in the area. Police blocked the main Saddar road for all kinds of traffic, and personnel of Anti Terrorist Squad called in for emergency duty to clear the area. Rescue teams also reached the area and started relief activities. According to sources, the forces are retaliating while information about the number of terrorists and possible losses is being collected.
The security situation in the city became tense when terrorists attacked the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters. The attack was formally confirmed by CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed. According to the CCPO, Saddar Road has been closed for all types of traffic after the attack due to security concerns, while additional personnel of the police and other security agencies have been deployed in the area.
According to residents of the area, gunfire is being heard from the direction of the FC headquarters. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation, while the public has been instructed not to go near the scene of the incident. Security agencies have appealed to citizens not to go near the scene of the incident and not to listen to rumors.
Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed said one terrorist targeted the main gate of the Frontier Constabulary while another exploded himself in a motorcycle stand situated inside the Headquarters. CCPO Mian Saeed said that the clearing process is underway, and he is leading the operation personally. He said that there were three Suicide bombers and all of them were killed during the operation. He said that as a result of the attack, three personnel of the Frontier Constabulary were killed and five others were injured. He said that a total of three terrorists were neutralized in the attack.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister condemns the terrorist attack on FC headquarters in Peshawar and directed an immediate report from IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa directs immediate and best medical facilities to the injured. He said the Security forces bravely averted a major disaster. He said that terrorists have no religion and such cowardly attacks cannot demoralize them. He added that martyrs are our pride, their blood will never be wasted. Sohail Afridi, The elements involved in the terrorist attack will be brought to justice, and all resources will be used to establish peace and eliminate terrorism.
