Health experts have warned that millions of people around the world are suffering from potassium deficiency, which is rapidly increasing the risk of serious problems such as heart disease and stroke.

According to research reports, adopting a balanced and potassium-rich diet can reduce the risk of stroke by 20 percent and heart diseases by 24 percent, which makes this nutrient very important for heart health.

Experts say that most people are not aware that they are suffering from potassium deficiency, this silent deficiency increases the chances of heart attack and stroke, as well as giving rise to other medical problems.

According to John Young, modern lifestyle and unbalanced diet are the main reasons for this problem. Fast food, processed foods and excessive salt consumption reduce potassium levels and increase the negative effects of sodium on the body.

Potassium performs several important functions in the body, including balancing the heart rate, controlling blood pressure, keeping the nervous system active, and helping with muscle contraction.

In case of potassium deficiency, problems such as muscle cramps, constipation, headaches, mental confusion, depression, and irregular heartbeat can occur, while in case of severe deficiency, breathing and digestive problems can also occur.

Experts have advised the public to include potassium-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables and natural foods in their daily diet to improve heart health and prevent fatal diseases.
