SWABI: People of Swabi strongly condemned the transfer of Renowned SHO Abdul Ali alias Gabar from Swabi Police station to the police line and termed its major political intervention on the part of the Governor in administrative matters.

There was a major uproar in the police administration in Swabi district when SHOs of important police stations across the district were transferred late last night. These unusual measures came to light after the strong response of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and an inquiry conducted by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Swabi.

Complaints about the behaviour and controversial statements of some police officers came to light during an open court held in Swabi a few days ago. Taking notice of the public complaints, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed strong anger and ordered an immediate inquiry.

Deputy Commissioner Swabi investigated the matter on the instructions of the Governor, in the light of which the DPO Swabi issued orders for transfers late last night. SHO Abdul Ali was removed from his post and closed to line, while Ajab Durrani has been appointed as the new SHO Swabi in his place.

SHOs of Kalo Khan, Lahore and Zaida police stations have also been immediately transferred and new appointments have been made. Interestingly, these transfers have taken place at a time when the polio campaign is underway across the district. Usually, security officers are not transferred during sensitive campaigns, but this action taken on the orders of the governor has created surprise in political and social circles.

Local circles said that the governor’s action against ignoring the problems of the people in the open court and administrative irregularities is welcome. However, such sudden and large-scale changes have created a stir in the police force across the district.
