KARAK: Poor condition of the Government primary school in Karak  Takht Nasrati exposes claims of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education emergency in the province, which is now become a living exmaple of government negligence, where the unavailability of basic human facilities has put the future of young students at stake.

The school building is so dilapidated and inadequate that innocent children are forced to study sitting on the ground under the open sky in the scorching sun and bitter cold. The school’s boundary walls have collapsed in places, due to which not only is the teaching process disrupted, but also the teachers and students are always unsafe. Local citizens said that due to the lack of boundary walls, there are encroachments and a lot of stray animals on the school land enters, which can cause a major accident at any time.

The lack of facilities in the school has increased to such an extent that not even a drop of clean drinking water is available, due to which children are forced to fetch water from far away or remain thirsty. Even more unfortunate is the unavailability of washrooms, which has created serious moral and medical problems for students, especially teachers.

The administrative crisis is such that many posts of teachers in the school have been vacant for a long time, due to which one or two teachers are assigned to take care of hundreds of children, which has completely destroyed the quality of education.

Residents of the area and parents have expressed their deep anger and said that this school of Takht Nusrat Jadid is nowhere to be seen in the government’s priorities.

They have demanded that the provincial education minister and education secretary immediately release funds for the school, address the shortage of teachers, and ensure the construction of washrooms, including the four walls, so that the slogan “If Khyber Pakhtunkhwa studies, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will grow” is not limited to advertisements.
