SWAT: Police in Swat on Monday registered a first information report (FIR) against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)’s Member of the National Assembly over an alleged anti-state speech, police sources confirmed.

According to the FIR, Dr Amjad Ali is accused of delivering provocative speeches against state institutions and the Constitution, allegedly inciting unrest and disturbing public order.

The case was registered at Kokarai Police Station on a complaint by Sajid Ali, a resident of Khwazakhela, Swat. The FIR includes sections related to sedition, incitement, and disruption of public peace.

The MNA was booked under around 10 various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police sources said the petitioner, Sajjad Ali, had approached the court under Section 22-A, seeking directions for the registration of the case, following which the court issued orders to the police.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
