Arbab Khizer Hayat Khan, Senior Member and Additional Secretary Information of the PML-N (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa filed pettetion in Peshawar high court demanding FIR and strict action against those who blocked motorway.
It alleges that PTI workers and leaders have blocked the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) and the Grand Trunk (GT) Road (specifically at the Attock/Khairabad bridge) for the past 4–5 days.
The statement claims these blockades have led to deaths (patients in ambulances), missed flights, and a halt to businesses and food supplies.
It names specific individuals, including Meena Khan Afridi (Provincial Minister), Shafiq Jan (Special Assistant to CM), and Shahid Khattak and Ahmed Kuran Niazi (MNAs/MPAs), as being responsible for “paralyzing” public life.
The PML-N leader is demanding the immediate registration of an FIR and police action to reopen the highways.
The statements in the letter align with widespread news reports regarding a major political standoff in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
PTI activists have indeed been blocking major arteries (M-1, GT Road, Hazara Motorway, and CPEC routes) since last Friday. They are protesting the alleged “denial of medical treatment” for incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, specifically citing concerns over his vision.
Reports confirm that KP is largely cut off from Punjab and Islamabad. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transporters Association reported today that daily vehicle departures from Peshawar have dropped by 50%, with travel times between Peshawar and Islamabad increasing from 2 hours to over 10 hours.
In addition to this police application, a writ petition was filed today in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) by Advocate Tariq Afghan, seeking a court order to declare these blockades unconstitutional and force the provincial government to reopen the roads.
As of this afternoon, some reports indicate that the GT Road at Khairabad was opened for a few hours today to let stranded families pass, but PTI workers reportedly re-blocked it after 3:00 PM.
