ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has initiated some of the strictest regulations aimed at enhancing the quality of medical and dental education across the country and eliminating irregularities. One of the key changes is that student registration on an online portal has now become mandatory for all government and private medical colleges.

Institutions that fail to register student data on time will face heavy fines. Additionally, in cases of illegal admissions, the full fee for the students involved will be levied as a fine on the concerned institution, and the number of available seats will be reduced for the following academic session.

PMDC has made it clear that institutions that repeatedly violate these regulations will be placed on a grey list. If fines are imposed three times, the registration and affiliation of those institutions may be suspended. Education experts have stated the necessity of these measures to ensure transparency in the system.

While these regulations aim to promote accountability, some colleges have raised reservations about the strictness of the conditions set forth by the PMDC.
