The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a climate outlook warning stating that below-normal rainfall is expected in December and early January.

The PMD forecast that this dry spell could pose challenges for certain crops, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

During December, most of the parts of Pakistan, including the northern areas, face dry and cold weather conditions. Also, nights are going to be colder.

According to PMD, rain-fed agricultural areas may experience heightened difficulties due to the anticipated moisture shortage.

However, the PMD anticipates an improvement in weather conditions toward the end of January and throughout February, with better rainfall expected.

This change could help reduce persistent smog and fog while also improving water reserves and restoring soil moisture levels.

for the next three months, PMD forecast emphasizes the need for agricultural planning and precautionary measures to mitigate potential crop damage in vulnerable regions.
