PESHAWAR: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday predicted the weather to remain partly cloudy and cold over most parts of the region, while severe cold conditions are likely in the upper areas.
The Met Office forecast isolated to scattered rain, with snowfall over high mountainous areas, in Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram, upper Swat, upper Dir and Chitral districts. Meanwhile, isolated light rain is expected in Peshawar, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and North and South Waziristan districts.
Foggy conditions in patches are likely to develop at scattered locations in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan districts, particularly along the M-1 motorway and the Grand Trunk (G.T.) Road during late night and early morning hours.
The PMD reported no rainfall or snowfall across the region during the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature recorded today was in Parachinar.
Air quality levels remained unhealthy in several areas. According to IQAir data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 170 in Peshawar, 169 in Haripur, 149 in Baffa, 1077 in Abbottabad, while Malam Jabba recorded a comparatively better AQI of 50.
Authorities have advised citizens, especially the elderly and children, to take precautionary measures against cold weather, fog, and deteriorating air quality.
