The Pakistan Metrological Department predicted heavy rains and storms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for April 1, 2026 as the authorities issued a high alert for the entire province.

A powerful westerly wave is entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tonight, due to which there is a possibility of thundershowers and hailstorm in various districts including Peshawar, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Kohat and Bannu till April 4.

So far 18 people have died in roof collapses and other accidents in the province during the recent rains, most of them children. There is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in upper areas like Swat, Dir and Kohistan.

In addition, the alert for floods caused by melting glaciers (GLOF) is also in effect until April 10. PDMA has ordered the district administration and Rescue 1122 to remain on alert at all times.

Tourists have been directed to avoid unnecessary travel to mountainous areas and farmers have been directed to take precautionary measures to protect their crops.
