Trump says he averted India-Pakistan war, prevented mass casualties

The United States (US) President Donald J Trump on Tuesday claimed that he played a key role in stopping a war that had begun between India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed countries, warning that “very bad things were about to happen.”

Addressing the Board of Peace for Gaza in Davos, Trump said he was pleased that the conflict had been halted in time. He stated that he felt deeply honoured when the Prime Minister of Pakistan credited him with saving “10, perhaps even 20 million lives” by preventing the escalation.

Trump said the situation between the two countries was extremely dangerous and that timely intervention helped avert a major catastrophe in the region.
