ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to set up an inquiry commission to investigate the martyrdom of Maulana Khan Zeb after this tragic incident led to cries for justice from people.
The Law Minister has been given the task by the Prime Minister to present the matter to the Cabinet in a summary. The head of this commission will be a Supreme Court judge and it will look into all the facets of the tragic event to find those who caused the death of Maulana Khan Zeb.
So, the commission that will investigate the case of the martyrdom of Maulana Khan Zeb will be established in conformity with the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act, 2017. Ministry of Law and Justice has been requested to expedite their report on the issue. The commission is expected to examine every detail of the incident and prosecute those who had a hand in it.
Background of Maulana Khan Zeb’s Martyrdom
It is worth mentioning that Maulana Khan Zeb was shot in the Bajaur area on July 10, 2025. His killing, among other things, caused widespread anger and grief across the nation, particularly among his followers and political friends. Since then, the case has been the focus of heated discussions with many advocating for the issuing of a transparent report which would unveil the reasons why he was assassinated.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan Welcomes the Decision
Aimal Wali Khan, the central president of the Awami National Party (ANP), expressed his delight at the decision of the government to set up the commission of inquiry. In reaction to the decision, Khan said that he was grateful to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He considered it a major step in the process of bringing justice to Maulana Khan Zeb’s family as well as to people who had been emotionally distressed due to his tragic death.
“Alongside the family and the nation, we have sworn to uphold the truth and today this pledge has been realized,” said Senator Aimal Wali Khan. “We are convinced that the commission will not only examine the case in an impartial manner but will also unveil the real reasons behind the killing and the culprits.”
