ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to assess the loss of life and property, including damages to crops and livestock, due to the recent rains and floods across the country.

He instructed all provinces and relevant agencies to conduct a detailed evaluation of the flood situation and the associated losses caused by the recent rains. This assessment will help in formulating a clear and effective recovery plan.

All Chief Ministers have been commended for taking swift and effective measures to address the challenges posed by the floods and rains.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of full cooperation between federal and inter-provincial agencies in assessing these losses. In addition to evaluating loss of life and property, the assessment should also consider the destruction of crops and livestock.

Assistance from Suparco should be sought for satellite assessments of the situation.

Immediate actions need to be taken to protect crops from various diseases following the floods. Moreover, special measures should be implemented to promote the cultivation of suitable crops in flood-affected areas.
