ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the discovery of large oil and gas reserves in the Nashpa block in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and praised the work of the relevant institutions.

An important meeting was held on the affairs of the Petroleum Division under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) gave a briefing regarding the roadmap of the petroleum and gas sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the discovery of large oil and gas reserves in the Nashpa block and praised the work of the relevant institutions. Talking to the participants of the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the country should be among our priorities so that the foreign exchange spent on importing petroleum products can be saved.

The Prime Minister directed to digitization of the oil and gas supply chain from import to consumer consumption on a priority basis and said that the digitization of the supply chain of oil and gas transportation will prevent smuggling of these products and will benefit the national exchequer.

The meeting was informed in the briefing that the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has discovered large oil and gas reserves in the Nashpa block in Kohat district. The briefing was informed that 4100 barrels of oil can be extracted from these reserves per day. This year, gas is being provided to domestic consumers with better pressure during the winter season than last year.

The meeting was informed that work on RLNG connections is progressing rapidly and the target of 350,000 connections will be completed by June 2026. Pipelines for Shiva Gas Field and Batani Gas Field have been commissioned, while work is underway on the pipeline from Kot Palak Gas Field.
