Partial restoration of air operations affected by the Middle East conflict has begun, with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) receiving permission to resume select international flights.

According to sources, the national carrier is now allowed to operate two daily flights to the United Arab Emirates, with one flight departing for Dubai and another for Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, PIA was granted permission to operate flights to the Saudi city of Dammam. However, sources indicate that operations to Dammam have been temporarily suspended following a missile attack on Bahrain. Despite this suspension, PIA flight operations to Jeddah, Riyadh, and Medina continue as scheduled, with aircraft reaching Saudi Arabia by traversing the Arabian Sea via Yemen.

The ongoing closure of Iranian airspace continues to impact long-haul routes. Sources confirmed that PIA flights to Europe and Canada are currently being rerouted to reach their destinations via the Wakhan region of Afghanistan to circumvent the restricted airspace.
