PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court suspended the notification of the Elementary and Secondary Education department to outsource government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The petition was heard by Justice Naeem Anwar and Justice Kamran Hayat, and after hearing the petition, the court declared the notification related to outsourcing and privatization suspended. Lawyer of the petitioner Muhammad Hamdan Advocate appeared in the court and informed the court that the government has decided to privatize elementary and secondary schools, which demonstrate poor performance.

The lawyer further said that these schools include from first grade to 12th grade, while the constitution requires the government to provide free education to children from class 5th to 16 years. There is also a shortage of resources and teachers in the schools of the province, and this outsourcing will affect the service structure of teachers as well as the education of children.

He requested the court to declare the notifications regarding outsourcing the hospital as illegal. After hearing the arguments, the court decided to suspend the notification till the next hearing. It may be recalled here that the PTI government has decided to outsource those schools and colleges that are showing poor performance; however, the decision was widely criticised by the teachers, and they took to the streets against this decision of the government.
