PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah): The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sentenced a lawyer to six months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 for using abusive language against a female judge in a courtroom in Swat.

According to the summary judgment issued by the High Court, a female civil judge, Fauzia Naseem, had lodged a complaint with the Registrar of the Peshawar High Court against lawyer Asadullah from Swat. The complaint detailed that the lawyer used abusive language towards the judge inside the courtroom, thereby undermining the dignity of the court.

The Peshawar High Court converted the complaint from the female judge into a contempt of court petition, initiating formal proceedings and issuing notices to the lawyer in question. During the contempt of court proceedings, the court found the allegations against the lawyer to be substantiated.

As a result, the court issued a sentence under the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2004, mandating that lawyer Asadullah serve six months in prison and pay a fine of Rs 100,000.
