PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has decided to introduce video link facilities for court proceedings, aiming to provide relief to litigants and cut costs.

According to an official statement issued by the Additional Registrar, the move follows directions from the Chief Justice. It is part of the broader austerity drive under the National Judicial Policy.

Under the new system, litigants, lawyers, and witnesses will be able to participate in hearings through video link. Officials say the step will particularly benefit people from remote areas who face travel difficulties and expenses.

District judiciary has been directed to complete all necessary arrangements for the video link system without delay.

The statement said anyone seeking to appear via video link must submit a request at least three days before the hearing. Litigants from distant areas will also be required to attach an affidavit along with relevant documentary proof.

The court administration said the use of technology will help reduce hardships for litigants while ensuring efficiency and financial discipline in the judicial system.
