ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar stated that the recent increase in petroleum product prices is a result of the global situation, impacting not only Pakistan but many other countries as well.

He urged the public on the social media platform X to disregard rumors and speculation regarding fuel prices, assuring that the government and relevant ministries will continue to provide accurate and verified information periodically.

In light of rising inflation, Tarar mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the preparation of a workable strategy aimed at promoting savings, frugality, and simplicity in government operations. Relevant authorities have been given a deadline of 48 hours to implement this strategy.

According to Attaullah Tarar, the Prime Minister has tasked the Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, and Petroleum Minister with holding immediate meetings with the four Chief Ministers to enforce strict measures against hoarding.

The Prime Minister emphasized that no concessions should be made to those taking advantage of the public, and that licenses for petrol pumps or dealers violating government orders should be revoked immediately.

Pakistan has arranged four Crude Oil Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country, and a mechanism is also being established, besides taking action against illegal hoarders.

According to Samaa Tv, the government of Pakistan has arranged four VLCCs from different countries to fulfil the requirement of petroleum products in case a shortage surfaces in the country due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.
