PESHAWAR: A lawyer has filed a petition at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking the disqualification of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi.

The petition was submitted by Advocate Mian Sibghatullah Shah, a candidate in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council elections. It asserts that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi inappropriately supported the candidates of the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) during the recent bar elections, indicating questionable intentions on his part.

Furthermore, the petition claims that his actions constitute a blatant violation of Articles 2A, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 25 of the Constitution. It argues that this situation qualifies for disqualification as both a member of the assembly and as Chief Minister.

The petitioner is requesting an immediate halt to Sohail Afridi’s support and meetings with the Insaf Lawyers Forum, as well as his disqualification from the position of Chief Minister.
