T20 World Cup: England defeats Pakistan in crucial Super Eight match

Earlier, England defeated Pakistan in a crucial Super Eight Match of the T20 World Cup here at the Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka.

England defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in a nerve-wracking match in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup.

The English team achieved the target of 165 runs set by Pakistan in the last over for the loss of 8 wickets.

The highlight of this match was the brilliant century of captain Harry Brook, who ensured his team’s comeback in the losing match.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan played a charming innings of 63 runs off 45 balls, while Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman contributed 25 runs each.

At one point, it seemed that Pakistan would be able to score big, but England’s Liam Dawson’s devastating bowling (3 wickets) left the middle order helpless.

Chasing a target of 165, England got off to a disappointing start, with Shaheen Shah Afridi running rampant and destroying the top order, including Jos Buttler. Shaheen took four wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq took two wickets each.

Despite the wickets falling from one side, Harry Brooke remained steadfast and changed the course of the match by scoring 100 runs off just 50 balls.

England achieved the target in 19.1 overs and secured valuable points, while Pakistan, despite their excellent bowling, suffered defeat due to fielding and middle-order failures.
