PESHAWAR: Rain in Peshawar and several other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made the weather colder, while snowfall in upper areas has further increased the cold.
The day began in Peshawar with cloudy skies, which ended when rain began to fall, according to reports. The Meteorological Department had already issued an alert about the weather change. The province experiences increased coldness because rain falls throughout various regions, which forces residents to wear their warmest clothing. Some regions have experienced partial disruptions to their traffic operations.
People have begun to buy dry fruits and fish because they need to stay warm during the cold weather.
The upper and tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have started to experience snowfall which accompanies a powerful cold wave. Snowfall continues to affect multiple locations in Upper and Lower South Waziristan which includes the areas of Laddha, Makeen, Shawal, Badr, and Karwan Manza. Weather conditions have reduced considerably in temperature.
North Waziristan experiences snowfall which covers both the Razmak town area and its adjacent mountain regions. The snow-covered roads create transportation challenges, which force residents to stay indoors because of the extreme cold weather.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has classified the present rain and snowfall pattern as a hazardous situation which will become more severe. The authorities have ordered all district administrations to stay on alert while they advise citizens to follow safety procedures.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that Upper areas will receive rain and snow during the upcoming days while the plains will get rain and the hilly regions will see snow until January 23. The region will experience cold weather conditions for the next three days.
