PESHAWAR: The City Traffic Police of Peshawar have released their performance report for 2025, indicating that action was taken against 2,147,492 individuals for traffic law violations throughout the year.

According to official statistics, enforcement actions included 36,900 cases of illegal parking in no-parking zones, 14,604 instances of riding without a helmet, 17,701 for using tinted windows, 3,350 for using mobile phones while driving, and 7,979 for not wearing seatbelts.

Additionally, cases were registered against 2,230 underage drivers, 14,037 drivers of unregistered vehicles, and 240,861 motorists for making wrong U-turns. Furthermore, 18,514 people were fined for driving without a valid license, 7,116 for refusing to present a license, 3,450 for improper loading, and 36,171 for misusing vehicle indicators.

Other violations included 210,302 general traffic rule breaches, 7,008 cases of speeding, 84,352 vehicles displaying fancy number plates, and 13,604 motorists who failed to give the right of way to other vehicles. Action was also taken against violators of additional traffic regulations.

The traffic police reported that, due to ongoing awareness campaigns, fatal road accidents decreased by 13 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, while other types of traffic accidents dropped by 15 percent.

Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahidullah stated that strict enforcement of traffic laws would continue without discrimination. He emphasized that awareness campaigns would be strengthened to promote safe driving practices and further reduce road accidents.

Dr. Zahidullah affirmed that the City Traffic Police Peshawar would continue to utilize all available resources to provide better travel facilities for citizens, while ongoing action against traffic law violators would remain a priority.
