PESHAWAR: A terrorist attack on the Mattani Police Station Peshawar was successfully foiled after police responded swiftly and effectively, according to officials.

Police said militants belonging to the Fitna al-Khawarij group attempted to target the police station, but officers immediately retaliated, forcing the attackers to flee the scene.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties or property damage occurred during the incident.

Following the attack, security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding area, and security has been further tightened to prevent any further threats.

Six terrorists were killed during a high-stakes intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat district, officials confirmed on Friday.

Acting on credible information regarding the presence of militants, the CTD Bannu Region’s Swat team moved to cordone off the area. Upon sighting the security forces, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle that lasted approximately 40 minutes.
