PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah): Peshawar police on Monday arrested a woman who had allegedly stolen gold jewellery worth millions of rupees from a house in the University Town area of Peshawar.

According to the police statement, the suspect who stole gold jewellery worth millions of rupees from a house in University Town, Old Abdara Road, Peshawar, was arrested by the Town Police Station, who discovered that the suspect was actually a housemaid.

The police statement mentioned that Muhammad Ibrahim Khattak had filed a report of jewellery being stolen from the house, on which a special team was formed for further action.

It said that after collecting evidence, the team, which also included a lady police officer, conducted a detailed investigation into various aspects. During this, the family members and the servants working in the house were also questioned.
When the housemaid was further interrogated due to the contradictions in her statements, the accused revealed the real facts and confessed to her involvement in the incident.

Police stated that 18 tolas of gold worth millions of rupees and other valuables were recovered from the suspect’s possession. The accused was transferred to the Women’s Police Station for further investigation.
