PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police annual report for 2025 concerning search and strike operations has been released. According to the report, 1,016 operations were carried out throughout the year.

The arrests made during the operations were 731 and besides that a huge amount of illegal items were recovered. The seized items included 846 firearms and more than 14,000 bullets.

Besides the weaponry, the police force of Peshawar also made a great strike in fighting the drug-related crimes. A total of 524 drug law offenders were taken into custody. Once more, the operations resulted in the confiscation of 90 kgs ofhashish,91 kgs of ice (crystal meth), and nearly 3 kgs of heroin. 95 bottles of alcohol were also among the seized items in the police’s crackdown on drug dens.

In addition, there were 1,596 arrests made in the city under the rent laws for violations regarding illegal rentals.

The activities of the Peshawar police in 2025 were vital in the city’s law enforcement and maintenance of order, especially through the targeting of illegal weapons, drugs, and property regulation violations.

Five target killers killed in Police encounter in Peshawar

On December 29, most wanted target killer gang, including their ringleader, was killed in police encounter on Monday.

CCPO Peshawar Mian Saeed told the media that the slain accused had previously martyred 2 police personnel and was planning to commit more serious incidents against the police. He said that the ringleader of the gang, Najmal-ul-Hasan, had also confessed to killing a police constable in a video statement. This gang was involved in a total of 30 incidents in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Darra Adamkhel.

The CCPO further said that the slain target killers had participated in the killing of 12 people in Peshawar, 17 in Nowshera, while they were also involved in the killing of one person each in Charsadda and Dara Adamkhel. Furthermore, the gang had also targeted ANP leader Momin Khan and his brother and had also shot and injured a transgender person.

Mian Saeed said that the police took immediate action to ensure the safety of the citizens and prevent further attacks by the gang, which resulted in the killing of dangerous criminals and helped restore peace in the area. Following this incident, further security arrangements have been tightened in Peshawar, and the police have assured the public that strict action will continue against all dangerous elements under the law.
