PESHAWAR: The National Motorway and Highway Authority announced on Monday that M-1 Motorway is open for traffic from Peshawar to Islamabad after nigh pause in the traffic.
Earlier, due to heavy fog, all motorways remained closed to traffic due to dense fogs in various areas. The decision was taken to avoid a traffic incident on the motorway.
According to the motorway police spokesperson, the motorway M-1 from Peshawar to Islamabad has been reopened to all types of traffic after visibility improved. Earlier, the M1 motorway from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Rashkai was closed for all kinds of traffic due to Dense fog and extremely low visibility. The motorway police spokesperson stated that the closure of motorways is totally for the purpose of the safety of citizens and to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of people.
Motorway Police Spokesperson emphasized the importance of cautious driving during foggy conditions, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy hours, complete journeys during daylight and reach destinations before fog sets in, use fog lights in vehicles, refrain from speeding, and maintain extra distance from the next vehicle.
National Highways and Motorway Police advised the public to keep a greater distance between vehicles and always take advice from the helpline 130 before starting the journey to obtain updated traffic and weather information.
