PESHAWAR: The National Highways and Motorway Police announced on Friday that all motorways, including M-1 Peshawar-Islamabad, have been reopened for traffic, providing relief to commuters following nighttime and morning fog.

The road was closed for all types of traffic after heavy smog from the Peshawar toll plaza to the Rashakai interchange. The NHMP has urged the public to keep themselves updated about the road closure and travel accordingly on the Motorways. The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has closed Motorway M1 from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Rashkai for traffic due to dense fog and low visibility. Earlier, the M1 motorway from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Rashkai was closed for all kinds of traffic due to Dense fog and extremely low visibility. The motorway police spokesperson stated that the closure of motorways is totally for the purpose of the safety of citizens and to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of people.

The spokesperson urged travellers to use the front and back fog lights during travel to avoid any incident and advised them to prefer travelling in daylight during the foggy season. The purpose of closing the motorway is to prevent accidents and protect the lives and property of motorway users.

Motorway police also advised to avoid speeding and keep a longer distance from the vehicle in front than usual. Motorway police also advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the early hours. National Highways and Motorway Police advised the public to keep a greater distance between vehicles and always take advice from helpline 130 before starting the journey to obtain updated traffic and weather information.
