ISLAMABAD: The National Highway and Motorway Police have said that all closed sections of the Peshawar-Islamabad M1 Motorway have been reopened after its closure due to dense fog.

The Motorway was closed due to severe fog in different sections between Peshawar and Islamabad on Thursday morning.

According to a statement issued by the National Highway and Motorway Police on Thursday. The Peshawar-Islamabad M1 sections, Main Toll Plaza Peshawar 498Km to Rashakai 459Km, from Rashakai to Swabi 420km and from Swabi to Chach 403 Km were closed to all types of traffic due to dense Fog on the major highway.

NHMP officials have advised the travellers to use the Grand Trunk Road as an alternative in case of emergency or wait till the reopening of the M1 closed sections.
Pakistan has been experiencing dense Fog for the last several years due to climate effects and environmental pollution.

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has closed Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Rashkai for traffic due to dense fog and low visibility.

The motorway police spokesperson stated that the closure of motorways is solely for the safety of citizens and advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the early hours.

The spokesperson urged travellers to travel in use the front and back fog lights to avoid any incident and advised them to prefer travelling in daylight during the foggy season.

The purpose of closing the motorway is to prevent accidents and protect the lives and property of motorway users.

Avoid speeding and keep a longer distance from the vehicle in front than usual.

The spokesman also advised using fog lights if travelling in this weather.

National Highways and Motorway Police advised the public to keep a greater distance between vehicles and always take advice from the helpline 130 before starting the journey.
