PESHAWAR: Passengers faced troubles when the vehicle of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) went out of service in Hayatabad Phase VI area on Friday morning.
The incident took place at the busiest point of Phase 6, Goal Chowk, Hayatabad. When the BRT feeder route bus (number B0114) reached this point, it got stuck there due to a sudden engine or system failure. Since this intersection is very important in terms of traffic, the bus’s stoppage also hindered the movement of other vehicles.
Although the authorities have not yet released the final report, according to initial information, due to a technical failure in modern buses, the safety system locks the wheels to prevent an accident. The breakdown of this one bus also affected the timetable of other buses plying on the feeder route, as buses on this route are required to come at regular intervals.
A “recovery vehicle” from Trans Peshawar was dispatched to the scene to remove the bus from there and move it to the depot, and clear the route. Authorities said they are taking a Mechanical check-up of all buses before they are put on the route. Ensuring the provision of an alternative service within 15 to 20 minutes in case of any bus breakdown.
