PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flash flood and heavy rain, snowfall advisory for the northern districts of the province. The PDMA advised the public to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, PDMA said that there were chances of rain and snowfall in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to 24.
According to the PDMA, a strong westerly wind will affect the upper parts of the country, which may result in an increase in the water level in the Kabul River and its connected rivers.
The PDMA has issued flash flood warnings in Swat, Chitral, Dir, Buner, Shangla and other districts and directed the district administration to remain alert in sensitive and low-lying areas and take preventive measures.
Similarly, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and other related organisations have been instructed to remain on high alert, and the population living on the banks of the Kabul River has been advised to be cautious and take precautionary measures.
The district administration has been directed to ensure the timely evacuation of people in the risk-affected areas, farmers to shift their livestock to safe places, and ban unnecessary traffic in low-lying areas.
