PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted heavy rain coupled with thunderstorms from Sunday night.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warns that light to moderate rains are anticipated in Kurram, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan on February 16 and 17. There is a significant risk of a hailstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall in Dera Ismail Khan, which could pose urgent challenges.

In response, the PDMA has mandated that the district administration and relevant agencies maintain a heightened state of alert to swiftly address any emergencies that may arise. Additionally, the district administration is instructed to deploy extra staff and machinery to sensitive and vulnerable areas to ensure a robust response.

We urge all citizens to stay vigilant and avoid approaching weak or under-construction buildings, as well as signboards, electricity poles, and solar panels, which could be hazardous. Furthermore, it is crucial to keep major highways and connecting roads clear at all times to ensure the smooth flow of daily life.

The PDMA emphasises the importance of taking preventive measures in light of potential flooding in rivers, streams, and storm drains. Rescue 1122 and other relief agencies must be prepared to respond promptly to any emergencies that occur. We strongly advise citizens to limit unnecessary travel during this period for their safety and the safety of others.
