LAHORE: Muhammad Wasim has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the team’s poor showing at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
PCB sent a signal that they are on the move to hire a fresh head coach for the women’s national team. The
Muhammad Wasim became the head coach of the Pakistan women’s cricket team in 2024 and was allowed to operate the team as he wished. However, the World Cup 2025 did not go well for Pakistan. However, the team did put up a fight with good bowling against cricket giants Australia and England and showed some potential.
Pakistan’s seven matches were all played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where the team met defeat against their traditional rivals India, Australia, South Africa, and Bangladesh.
PCB decided to keep on supporting the national women’s team giving them the power and the means to improve and head in a new direction with a new head coach whose appointment will be made at the earliest.

Spinner Nuzhat Sadhu sets record for Pakistan in women’s World Cup
Pakistan’s spinner Nuzhat Sadhu took three crucial against Australia to achieve new heights in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
During the match against Australia on Wednesday, Nuzhat Sadhu gave a brilliant bowling performance to dismiss Australia’s Alice Perry, Annabel Sutherland, and Tahlia McGrath and hence, she took 3 important wickets.
With these 3 wickets, Nuzhat Sadhu is now the most successful bowler in terms of wickets in the ICC Women’s World Cup record for Pakistan who has taken 20 wickets in 16 matches, breaking the previous record of 17 wickets in 18 matches by the ex-captain of Pakistan Sana Mir.
Besides, the left-arm spinner has also matched the record of Nida Dar and is now the co-second-highest wicket-taking bowler of Pakistan in Women’s One Day International (WODI) cricket, both having 108 wickets. Nuzhat achieved this feat in 78 matches whereas Nida Dar got 108 wickets in 112 matches.
