The Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) has announced that the auction of two new teams for the upcoming season of PSL will be held on January 06, 2026.
According to PSL officials, a list of six possible cities for new franchises has also been released. Only those bidders who are technically eligible can participate in the auction. The names of Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit have been shortlisted among the possible names for the two new teams to join the PSL. PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer said that the league is developing into a world-class T20 league, with the addition of new teams further enhancing its popularity and quality. The PCB has made it clear that the auction of new franchises is aimed at further expanding the league and ensuring the promotion of cricket across the country. This move will increase the number of cities playing in the league and create new opportunities for fans.
It is important to note that PCB refutes news circulating in the media regarding the finalization of the two city names for the new HBL PSL franchises. The PCB would like to clarify that, as per the process, the successful bidders will have the right to choose a team name from any of the city/team names listed above. The PCB is pleased to note and welcomes the growing interest in the acquisition of Team franchise rights for two new teams for future editions of the HBL PSL.
It is pertinent to mention here that the public advertisement for tendering of the Team Franchise Rights was published on 15 November 2025 and invites bids from interested parties from around the world. The deadline for submission of Technical Proposals is 15 December 2025 at 11 am.
