DUBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly denied the news being circulated in the media that fast bowler Salman Mirza has been fined for allegedly misbehaving with a lady at a hotel in Kandy during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The news of Salman Mirza being fined started doing the rounds when a television channel flashed a ticker on their television screen, following which the Pakistan Cricket Board stated, “The news being circulated in the media is false and baseless, and the television channel should not be broadcasting such news without verifying it.”
The PCB further stated, “The PCB is contemplating legal action against those responsible for the circulation of such news and such allegations against the reputation of Pakistani players will not be tolerated.”

“Agenda-driven fake news targeting the character of our players is unacceptable,” the board said, also stating that the journalist concerned must apologize to the public at once. However, if the journalist does not apologize, the PCB said that they would take all possible legal measures to address the issue.
In the ICC T20 World Cup, the Pakistan team failed to qualify for the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive International Cricket Council tournament.
Further, it has also been stated that the PCB is considering fining each player Rs50 lakh due to the poor performance of the team in the tournament.
