PESHAWAR: Patients express concern over lack of female ultrasound technicians in LRH, and said that female patients are being forced to undergo examinations by male ultrasound technicians.
Female patients and their families have expressed serious concerns over this situation at the largest government hospital in the province, calling it a clear violation of women’s basic human rights.
Female patients said that the absence of a lady technician for sensitive medical examinations like ultrasound is not only against social and cultural values, but also causes mental stress and severe distress to the patients. According to the affected women, many patients are forced to postpone tests or turn to private hospitals due to this compulsion, which is putting an additional financial burden on them.
Citizens have raised the question of what will be the situation of hospitals in other districts if female ultrasound technicians are not available in the largest and central hospital of the province. Citizens say that the government and related institutions seem to be failing to provide medical facilities to women and this problem has been unresolved for a long time.
In this regard, Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim says that there is a shortage of lady ultrasound technicians across the province, but steps are being taken to resolve this problem. According to the spokesperson, progress is expected soon regarding the appointment of female technicians so that the problems faced by female patients can be resolved.
On the other hand, citizens have demanded that the government immediately ensure the recruitment of lady ultrasound technicians so that women can be provided with dignified and safe medical facilities.
