ISLAMABAD: The​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ latest episode of the drama serial Paamal has caused a backlash of the audience after a husband and wife clash scene was shown directly without any censorship.

“Paamal”​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ is a serial that has been airing on Green Entertainment for a while now and has been the talk of the town for the portrayal of marital relationships. The drama, written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Khizer Idrees, is a collaborative production of Tahreem Chaudhry. The primary characters of the serial are played by Saba Qamar, Usman Mukhtar, Haris Waheed, and Salma ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Asim.

The drama plots around a writer named Maleeka, who is put through the struggles before and after her marriage. Raised without a father, Maleeka has always pictured married life as a dream however, her wedding dreams with Raza who is not up to the mark, are all broken. Besides, the drama also shows Raza, as a mistrusting husband granting his wife the less freedom of her rights.

So far, only twelve episodes of the series have been aired. Maleeka and Raza are reunited in a hospital after a fight in the latest episode. One scene features an over-emotional Female, who on hearing of her husband’s ailment, throws her arms around him as to what happened the rest of the story, Green Entertainment showed this scene outright without any censorship.

After the release of the episode, users on social media took the matter very seriously. A good number of them were angry about the actors involved as well as the channel for presenting an “unnecessary” bold scene without any hesitation.

Calling out the director as “the one who should be feeling the heat for enabling such intimate scenes,” the user further remarked that Pakistani dramas are “now imitating the way of Indian soaps.”

Many viewers considered the scene as something to be quite uncomfortable, while a few were glad that their parents were not around at that time.

There were some individuals who challenged the channel on their promises of delivering “unique and meaningful content,” and felt that the scene was contradicting the standards set by Green Entertainment. ​‍​
