LAHORE: Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem has clinched the World Gold Bantamweight Title at the second International Boxing Championship, Fight for Glory, held in Lahore.
Waeem delivered an outstanding performance, successfully defending his title in the championship’s final. The much-anticipated showdown between Pakistan’s Waseem and Thailand’s Jakrawat Mujango proved intense, with both fighters showcasing exceptional skill and resilience.
Throughout the 12-round bout, Waseem maintained strong control, countering his opponent’s attacks with agility and precision. In the end, he emerged victorious, while the defeated Jakrawat Mujango was seen in tears after the loss.
Speaking after the win, Muhammad Waseem expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the Punjab government for organizing the event. He dedicated his victory to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army.
The Fight for Glory Championship concluded today, featuring 44 boxers from 15 countries, making it one of the major international boxing events hosted in Pakistan.
Pakistan defeats Sri-Lanka to win tri-nation series
Earlier, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets and won the title of the tri-nation series in a thrilling match held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bowl, where Sri-Lankan cricket team set a target of 115, which Pakistan cricket team achieved easily and won the title of Tri-Nation Series.
The final match was played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and the national team easily achieved the target of 115 runs set by Sri Lanka in the 18th over for the loss of four wickets.
For Pakistan, opener Sahibzada Farhan played an innings of 23 runs, while Saim Ayub was outstanding with 36 runs. Captain Salman Ali Agha could score 14 runs while Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for just 4 runs.
Babar Azam calmly played an unbeaten innings of 32 runs to lead the team to victory; his innings included a four and a six.
