RAWALPINDI: A woman Inspector of Rawalpindi Police Irum Khanum knocked out Indian weightlifter Sapna at the World Powerlifting Championship and brought a gold medal to Pakistan.
The event taking place in Sri Lanka witnessed Irum Khanum securing her position by overpowering Sapna in a very close fight between the two. This triumph granted her the gold medal in this competition. Also helped her obtain two gold medals at the 2025 World Powerlifting Championship.
When she came back, to Rawalpindi Police Lines Inspector Irum Khanum received a reception and was honoured for her outstanding accomplishments.
At the reception event, CPO Khalid Hamdani commended Inspector Irum Khanum, stating, “She has brought honour to Punjab Police and Pakistan. Irum Khanum is a figure in Punjab Police serving as a symbol of pride for the department as well, as the country.”
A spokesperson for the Rawalpindi Police also mentioned that Irum Khanum has received an invitation to carry the Olympic torch. She also claimed the top spot in the deadlift competition.

Pakistan reaches IBSF Snooker World Cup final after beating India
Last month, Pakistan has qualified for the final of the IBSF Snooker World Cup with a spectacular display of power against India.
There was a nail-biter of a match in which Zed Pars defeated Indians 3-1 in frames and consequently, the Pakistani fans exploded with happiness.
The pair of cueists Mohammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal from the Pakistan team went for the kill and were spot-on with their balls throughout the match, Both Pakistani players were in great mental and technical form throughout the match, thus they managed to win the most important frames that were ultimately responsible for their team’s advancement to the final.
A friendly handshake between players from both sides was the highlight of the event after the match.
The win at a time like this is a great propeller for Pakistan’s move up the world ranking of snooker. Supporters and sports pundits have positively reviewed the team’s performance and are therefore hopeful that Pakistan will be equally triumphant in the final.
