ISLAMABAD: Germany has introduced the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card) scheme greatly increasing job prospects for Pakistani labourers. Through this program Pakistani national are permitted to enter Germany without a secured job and have, up to one year to look for work.
The initiative seeks to draw workers from nations such, as Pakistan into Germany’s labour market. Qualified candidates are permitted to remain in Germany for one year and engage in part-time employment for a maximum of 20 hours weekly. Moreover, chosen applicants will be granted a two-week work trial to demonstrate their abilities to prospective employers.
Points-Based Eligibility System
To be eligible, for the Opportunity Card applicants need to earn a minimum of 6 points, which are granted according to:
Language proficiency
Educational qualifications
Professional experience
Technical skills
Age
Previous stay in Germany
Applicants must also submit evidence of having a minimum of €1,091 to support living costs, in Germany.

All submissions need to be made via the Federal Foreign Office’s platform. After the approval of the Opportunity Card, candidates will be allowed to enter Germany and get ready for their job search by completing the necessary steps of accommodation, health insurance, and local registration first.
The ability to speak the German language improves the chances of getting a job and the German Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan will assist applicants with their queries and provide the necessary support during the application process.
