ISLAMABAD: Eight Pakistani universities featured in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia university rankings 2026.
Pakistan has made significant progress in the field of higher education, as eight universities from the country have been included in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS ) Asia University Rankings 2026.
The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), based in Islamabad, secured the highest position among Pakistani institutions, ranking 238th in Asia.
Air University, also located in Islamabad, was placed 328th, while Bahria University Karachi achieved the 416th position.
From southern Punjab, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur earned distinction by securing the 434th rank.
Meanwhile, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Pattoki ranked 607th, Hazara University, Mansehra was placed 614th, University of Swat ranked in the 761 to 770 range, and University of Sahiwal appeared in the 951 to 1000 bracket.
This ranking reflects the steady advancement of Pakistani universities in research, teaching standards, and international collaboration.
According to QS, the rankings—initiated in 2009—evaluate universities on various indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, international research network, number of research papers and citations, proportion of PhD faculty, and the presence of international faculty and students, as well as student exchange programs.
The 2026 list features over 1,500 universities from across Asia. The University of Hong Kong topped the rankings, followed by Peking University (China) in second place, while Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore jointly secured third position.
