ISLAMABAD: A high-level Pakistani delegation led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif will hold talks with Afghan Taliban officials in the Qatari capital Doha today.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, these talks are very important for the immediate and effective elimination of terrorism originating from Afghan soil. The delegation aims to reduce border tensions, address Pakistan’s security concerns, and promote regional stability. Foreign Office spokesperson has said that “Pakistan does not want any kind of tension, but we support a peaceful diplomatic solution for lasting peace and stability in the region.”
He added that the Afghan Taliban should fulfil thThe eir international commitments and move forward with Pakistan based on bilateral trust. Pakistan demands action against terrorists from Afghan soil. Pakistan has taken a clear stand in the talks, saying that it demands verifiable and decisive action against terrorist groups present on Afghan soil, so that the series of cross-border attacks can be stopped. Pakistan has welcomed Qatar’s mediation and cooperation in holding the Doha talks. The Foreign Office spokesperson said, “These talks are an important step towards peace and stability in the region, and we hope that they will yield positive results.”
Pakistani delegation has reached Doha, provisional agreement on a ceasefire has also been reachedAccording to official sources, a high-level delegation led by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has reached Doha. It may be recalled that in the initial talks in Doha yesterday, the parties had agreed on a ceasefire until the talks were completed.
