ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that Pakistan will not hesitate to carry out airstrikes in Afghanistan in response to cross-border attacks.

Speaking to an International Media Platform, he claimed that recent attacks in Pakistan are part of a proxy war involving the Taliban and India.

Khawaja Asif stated that Delhi, Kabul, and terrorist groups are all involved in attacks targeting Pakistan. He further warned that all major terrorist groups, including the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS, maintain a presence in Afghanistan, and that attacks on Pakistan cannot occur without the consent or support of the Afghan government.

The Defence Minister also highlighted that tensions with India remain high, emphasising that the possibility of war with New Delhi still exists if provocations continue.
