Pakistan has decided to partially close its airspace for two days as the Civil Aviation Authority has issued a NOTAM notice to Air Missions in this regard.

According to the NOTAM issued, certain air routes will be temporarily closed. The closure will start from 12 noon on October 28 and will continue till 3 pm on October 29. According to the authorities, this measure is being taken as part of routine airspace management to ensure safe and efficient flow of air traffic.

According to the Civil Aviation spokesperson, flights may be diverted to alternative routes as required. However, despite the partial closure of the airspace, airport activities and commercial flights will not be affected.

The development comes days after India issued a similar notification for a tri-services exercise in the South Western Sector – covering Rajasthan, Gujarat, and parts of the Arabian Sea.

India’s NOTAM, effective from October 30 to November 11, restricts air movement below 28,000 feet for the duration of the exercise, which is expected to primarily involve the Army, with support from the Air Force and mobilisation of naval assets.
