PESHAWAR (Shahid Jan): The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary board has finalised its candidate for the upcoming Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi on the directives of provincial party president Junaid Akbar Khan.

According to the notification issued by the party board on Monday, the board unanimously nominated Irfan Saleem as the party’s official candidate for the Senate seat. To ensure the party’s representation in the electoral process, Sajjad Mohmand, Ghulam Badshah Bhittani, and Sardar Khan have been directed to file their nomination papers as covering candidates for Mr Saleem.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Afridi emphasised the party’s commitment to prioritising leaders and workers who demonstrated loyalty and made significant sacrifices during challenging times. He noted that while selecting a single candidate from a large pool of deserving applicants was a difficult decision, the party remains focused on upholding the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The board paid tribute to all the applicants for their steadfastness and reaffirmed that the party’s strength lies in its members who have stood firm through every trial. The nomination marks a key step in the party’s preparations for the forthcoming upper house elections in the province.
