ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have raised a collective alarm over persistent ceasefire violations in Lebanon, calling for the immediate and uncompromising implementation of the truce to secure regional stability. This consensus was reached during a high-level telephonic conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
Both leaders expressed profound concern regarding the deteriorating situation and said that strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement is the only path toward sustainable peace. They warned that urgent international intervention is required to prevent a further military escalation that could engulf the broader region.
In a strongly worded statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon, citing the heavy toll on human life and the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure. Pakistan characterised these actions as a blatant violation of international law that directly undermines diplomatic peace efforts and threatens long-term regional security.
Reaffirming its position, Islamabad expressed complete solidarity with the government and people of Lebanon, asserting its unwavering support for the country’s independence and territorial sovereignty. During the exchange, Foreign Minister Dar also lauded Saudi Arabia’s consistent support for Pakistan’s diplomatic role in fostering peace.
The two ministers agreed to maintain a high level of coordination as the situation evolves, underscoring a shared commitment to de-escalation and a diplomatic resolution to the crisis. Both nations maintained that restoring calm is entirely dependent on all parties respecting the agreed-upon terms of the ceasefire.
