QUETTA: Due to escalating tensions in Iran, the process of Pakistani citizens returning through the border towns of Tafftan and Gabd Rindian in the Balochistan province is ongoing.
The border areas between Pakistan and Iran permit citizens from both countries to cross into Pakistan.
Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Naqeeb Ullah Kakhar stated that 106 Pakistanis arrived in Gwadar on Tuesday through the Gabd Rindian crossing point which connects Chahbahar to the city. He reported that five Iranian nationals used this same route to enter Gwadar.
The Tafftan border recorded 421 people who entered Pakistan on that day which included 220 Pakistani citizens and 166 students who were part of that group. The returnees included 190 Iranian drivers and 13 other Iranian citizens.
A federal government official explained that Iranian drivers bring freight vehicles into Tafftan and return after unloading the cargo.
Government sources report that over 3200 Pakistani nationals returned from Iran during the last ten days with many of them being students.
The group that entered Pakistan from Iran included 78 Iranian citizens, together with one Chinese national two British citizens, two Canadian nationals and 16 people from other countries.
Return of Pakistanis from Iran continues as repatriation efforts intensify
Similarly, on Tuesday, the return of Pakistanis from Iran continues for the tenth day, and some individuals have returned to Pakistan.
According to Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Naqeeb Ullah Kakar, in total, 111 individuals, including 15 students, have returned to Pakistan from Iran today via the Gabad Rimdan border.
The list of those returning to Pakistan includes 5 Iranian citizens, 48 Pakistani businessmen, and 8 seamen.
According to Naqeeb Ullah Kakar, in the last 10 days, 1,121 individuals, including 330 students, have returned to Pakistan from Iran.
He added that all the individuals, local and foreign, who returned to Pakistan from Iran via the border are being provided hospitality by the Balochistan government.
