Pakistan has crossed a major milestone in the country’s digital economy by launching the 5G spectrum auction in Islamabad today. The move is not only a major step towards modern technology but will also boost the potential of next-generation connectivity in the country.

About 600 MHz of spectrum is being offered during the auction, which is one of the largest expansions in telecommunications capacity in Pakistan. According to experts, this step will open up new avenues for development in the country, including high-speed internet, robust digital infrastructure and various sectors.

The introduction of 5G is expected to lead to significant growth in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud services, fintech, remote work, startups and digital exports. Pakistan has over 20 million telecom subscribers and over 15 million broadband subscribers, preparing the country for the next phase of digital transformation.

The Federal Minister for Science and Technology said that today Pakistan is not just auctioning spectrum, but it is also enabling its digital future. He added that 5G will create new opportunities for the younger generation and will provide evidence of increased economic growth in the country.

Experts say that 5G technology will play a fundamental role in promoting smart cities, modern education, e-commerce and high-tech business models in the country.
