ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Afghan diplomat to formally register a strong protest over the recent terrorist attack in Bajaur.

‎According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, the Afghan Deputy Ambassador was handed an official protest note expressing deep concern over the use of Afghan territory in the Bajaur attack.

‎On February 16, security forces in Bajaur were targeted in a cross-border attack carried out by militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of 11 personnel.

‎The spokesperson highlighted Pakistan’s serious concern that Afghan soil continues to be used for terrorism against Pakistan. He noted that the leadership of the Therik-i-Taliban Pakistan remains based in Afghanistan and continues to operate openly from there.

‎The Afghan diplomat was reminded that such incidents undermine bilateral relations and regional peace. Despite multiple assurances from the Taliban, there has been little concrete action to curb these cross-border threats.

‎Pakistan once again urged the Afghan government to take effective and tangible measures against militants operating from its territory to prevent future attacks.
